15 hp merc question

I just bought a 1992 15 hp. Runs great but I don't get much water coming out of the pee hole at idle, I get alittle more at trolling speed and when I give it more throttle and then wide open I get a good steady stream. I was going to change the impellar but when I went on line to get parts under the cooling system it also shows a thermostat in the parts list. Is there a thermostat on this 15 hp, if so then what it is doing is probably normal I would think.

If you don't know when the last time the impeller and thermostat was changed it is a good idea to change them. Its cheap insurance.

Thermostat is likely easier to change than the pump impeller. Follow the tell tale hose to the back of the engine block & 2 10mm bolts removes the cover.

If you do not have one already, a Mercury factory service manual is very useful. Check ebay or Mercury direct.

Great little motors!
