Who if any, what company makes 15 or 16 foot fiberglass bass boats? And your top choices.

New or used?

Not aware of any new glass models in that range, but there must be some out there.

Used, many, mostly very old, all will need a great deal of work and can be rebuilt into whatever you want it to be.

Why glass and not aluminum?

Again, from prior posts, I dont think you want to be shopping used. As Ondarvr said, used are likely to need rebuilt.

New aluminum side and dual consoles still come in 15-16ft, dont they?

Some dont have a lot of freeboard, but typical glass bass boats dont either.

Shopping used, even 5yrs old, depends entirely on care, use, maintenance, storage, and condition more then brand or build quality.

Tell us again how you plan to use it, and where?

There should be several options on new and used aluminum boats in that size range.

I like the lines of some of the older Bass Boats. But like previously stated, most any older type fiberglass Bass Boat you get will most likely need totally rebuilt. But if you like that type work, you can have a nice Bass boat built to whatever YOU like and if properly taken cared of, will last for as long as you want it. I am thinking about doing that myself if I can ever get this tri-hull boat finished first.

Depends on your usage, but both Bayliner and Boston Whaler make 15', 16' or 17' boats. Lotsa' boats in the 19' range. I'd say 19' is really the new 16' of the 70s and 80s.

I actually like a lot of the older Bass Hulls. But a few stick out as my main interest. I'd like to rebuild an old Glassstream Pro Bass 1550 hull. No it isn't large or anything really special. But it has great lines and I like the way it looks. And it does suit my wants and needs for a boat to get into some shallow areas to fish. One day...maybe!

Thanks for all the input. I want to stick with fiberglass because of the deep v, and they tend to handle rough water better. I need a gentle ride, not necessarily fast, but smooth for my neck. And smaller for my wallet. I would like a fishing trip to stay $50 a trip. My 40hp Tohatsu is great on gas mileage, so I want to stick with it. Not saying I wouldn't mind a 70hp or 90hp, I would cruise with it, don't have to go wot all the time.

I don't think really any 15-16' boat is going to ride real well and a tinny would be a better batch for your 40HP.

Ranger, Flippin, AR. Cherokee and Commanchie, top quality and reliability. They make tin now too if you are interested in that. My last glass boat was a new Ranger.

ok, we have a 'starcraft on craigslist' thread where we all keep eyes out for cheap boats to save and rehab. There was just a sweet (i think) 16' center console aluminum that would been very workable with your 40hp.

Tracker has solved that problem in alum. but it's a bigger, newer, and a pricy boat.....37 degree dead rise at the bow, 20 at the stern and 96 inch beam on the 16'...nice and wide high sides for big water.

40 hp would push a lightweight glass, 14' semi v, open construction, deck and windshield, at 20-25 mph with 2 and gear. FIL had one.
