I have a 15' tri hull that the floor was rotted on. I tore it down to the stringers and put fans in to dry it all out. now I am trying to come up with a plan for going back together. My question is do the stringers need to be glassed to the hull if they are composite? could I use something like aluminum and simply PL it to the hull and put a floor right on it without glassing them back to the hull? I want the boat to be solid when I am done but don't want to have to worry about rot down the road and am trying to get it done as simply as I can.

I'm sure you will soon hear lots of comments soon from guys with lots more experience than me😉
Im going to go with a big YES stringers need to be glassed in. Otherwise they are not much more than sticks glued in the bottom of your boat🙃 So whether wood , composite or foam (never heard of aluminum personally) they need to be tied into the hull. I would go as far as to say the bulk of the strength IS THE GLASS

Quick and simple and proper repair are 2 entirely different things IMO.

do some research, read some threads, then ask some good specific questions. There is an abundance of members with skills and experience. I'm sure you will find the help and advice you need.

year, make and model would also help👍

That's what I Thought. I know in a fiberglass stinger the strength is the fiberglass but that's what I was wondering if you were to use something else for that strength and somehow bond it to the hull would it offer enough structure and stability?

Is there wood in the stringers now ?
If so they are probably rotten and should be replaced with wood or composite material that can be glassed back in to the hull .
composite material can get pricey if you want to go that way .

The stringers are the skeletal system of your boat. No Bones...She'll flop around like a fish out of water. How old is she? Rotten Decks usually indicate a TOTAL restoration is required. Deck, Stringers, and Transom
