I need to swap out the prop on my 1989 175hp Evinrude outboard. The current prop is 15" diameter x 17" pitch however, I can get a 15.25" x 17" for cheap. How much of a difference would the 0.25" increase make? should i just spend the extra money to get the same size?

thank you in advance

Re: 15 x 17 prop vs 15.25 x 17

The 1/4 inch wont matter. The fractional part of a prop is more of a "class" measurement and varies with pitch from prop to prop.

Now the design of the prop will matter. It should be a similar design if it looks radically different all bets are off. It will undoubtedly perform differently than the one that's on there now.
