150 Evinrude not sure of year on an '89 Stratos fish n ski
I know it's not made for it but it's the boat we have so we've been using the boat for nothing but wakeboarding and need something lower than the prop that's on it. We need to be able to hold speed around 22 without the motor having to work so hard. Obviously we know that we will lose some top speed. Just want to know what the experts suggest we go to. Also would like to stick with aluminum as we run in a river and would rather take out a prop than blow the lower.
WOT 5200 Rpm 56 mph
Not sure what is on the boat at present.

You'll be OK with ss props, hitting bottom with them will not automatically tear up a gearcase. If it did, I'd have to have a new gearcase everytime we go fishing.

If you use a 22 now you can probably drop to a 19 for towing water toys. You'll have much more low end power and the rpm will be higher at lower speeds which lessens the load on the motor. Kinda like downshifting your truck when going up hill.

And you could probably use a 4 blade to get a little more pull too. A friend has a Javelin F&S with a 150 Rude and uses it for water toying all the time. He had a ski pylon put in his, made a huge difference.

Awesome,
I think we're gonna go with a 4 blade 19p. We're gettin a pylon that doesn't require any drilling and can be transferred between boats, it's a pretty cool setup. Thanks a ton for your reply, you knowledgable guys should get a salary from iboats. Us newbs can start payin a dollar for every question we ask.
