Hey guys,

Got a 1985 evinrude 150 (E150STLCOS), and would like to install a water pressure gage, temp gage and maybe a fuel pressure gage.

The fuel pressure gage isn't a big deal, but to install a temp / pressure gage, is their an existing port(s) I can hook into (like the warning buzzer holes) or would I need to drill and tap into a passage?

Would running a fuel pressure gage (with the T'd in pc of line) create a hard cold start condition?

Thanks in advance

Where do you intend to install the fuel pressure gauge fitting and what type would you use? Unless you use an electrical sender similar to a water temp sender, you would need to run a hose from the output side of the fuel pump to the console where the gauge is. Does that sound like a reasonable thing to do since if you have a leaky hose or fitting you pump raw fuel into the boat. The electrical sender for fuel pressure would need to be a very low pressure device and I'm not even sure there is a fuel pressure gauge available for a carbed outboard. If you are thinking about reading pressure in the fuel line before the engine you are mistaken about that as fuel is "sucked" through the fuel line after the engine starts. It is not "forced" through the line. As for water temp and water pressure, there are ample discussions on how to do that on this forum -- use the "search" function. Both Faria and Teleflex offer both gauges. Follow the installation instructions.

Silvertip has some excellent comments. The factory temp sensor in each head is a thermal switch, not full range sender. They are either "on" or "off" and will not drive any temp gauge. You will need to add a temp sender to the powerhead if you want to drive a gauge. You can plumb the hose for the water pressure gauge direct to the telltale barb on the back of the engine. If you tee the telltale line, check the pressure when the gauge is run direct vs. after you tee it, as sometimes you can get lower gauge readings after the line is T'd.
