Hi folks, I have a 2022 Mercury 150 four stroke outboard with just over 400 hours on it. Immediately upon our first launch this year, it began idling rough and then commenced with the six beep alarm. We returned it to the service department that commissioned it and changed the fluids, etc.
They tell me the map sensor is bad and needs replacing. Fine, I’ve seen threads that seem to support that, assuming they are reading the codes properly. The boat is in dry stack off the trailer, and I can’t easily get to it to go over it myself. So the question is this:
They have quoted something like $150 for the sensor and $600 for labor to replace it. I can’t find a service manual or video of this procedure. Are there really multiple hours of labor involved in replacing this sensor? I would think it to be a simpler task than that, unless it’s buried under something. Any thoughts on the level of effort for this job?
Thank you.
