I recently bought an Alumcraft dominator with a 150 hp Suzuki 4 stroke. The prop that the boat came with is a 14.75 x 23 Suzuki prop. The boat runs about 5300 rpm at WOT. I am wondering if a 21 pitch prop would be more appropriate and also what would that do to my speed? Currently does about 46 mph with 4 people.

The WOT rpm range is 5000-6000. Going to a 21 should raise your WOT rpm by 300-400, putting you in a better rpm range.

With the higher rpm, you shouldn't lose any speed, and the all around performance should be better.

If this is a new boat, the dealer should be willing to exchange the props, provided your 23 isn't damaged.

You might want to look at set up first. If the set up isn't maxed out you may gain what you need that way.

Dhadley Has hands on experience.
Your present slip is a very low 3% Not impossible but unlikely. Is your speed by gps?
If not gps you should confirm by gps. If it is by gps I would suspect the tach isn't accurate.

The speed is from my gps and not the boat speedometer.
