I am considering a new boat with a 150 HP Optimax. As I look at the specifications for that motor they are physically identical to the 175 HP unit -- same bore,stroke, compression, etc.
Back in the old days more power meant more/heavier engine in some way. Apparently now the difference is to change the performance via the electronics.
The difference in price is about $2500 for some reason.
Is there a way to 'chip' the motor or buy an aftermarket kit to get that additional 25 HP?
