I just bought a boat and have a 150 merc. blue water series motor with 20 hours. I took it for a ride and it runs really hot. It was on the 3/4 mark which i think was around 180 - 190 degrees.<br />The needle didnt move when it was wide open and stayed on about 180. it seemed like the water wasnt coming out as well when at high rpm. but when we slowed it was a nice constant flow. I was wondering if this is ok or should i take it in to be checked out. how long before the engine signal goes off. i ran the boat for about a half hour or so. thanks chuck

Sounds like your water pump impeller is weak and needs to be changed.
