give it a shot of premix, 50:1 with a spray bottle in all carb throats. does bulb get firm? can you keep it running by pumping bulb, if yes look at rebuilding fuel pump? My bet is jets are clogged on carb(s), been sittin for a while with fuel in it, then look at cleaning carbs. Let us know what you find.

Re: 150 merc not starting

Check the fuel in-richer --- Most Carb Mercs will not cold start without the in-richer working...
That little brass looking canister hanging on the side by the Carb... Push down on the little button and count to 5 "best to have somebody else try to start it so you can hold it down".... then try to start it... If it still won't start..pull the hose that goes from the canaster to the middle carb... and press the button... fuel should run out when the button is pushed "also should run out when you push in on the key in the on position"... This little dude cost $105.00 so if it is your problem check a little further to make sure that it is getting power when you press the key to choke... The only other cause of fuel not running out is that there is no fuel in the bole of the to carb... pull the brass drain plug out of the side of the top carb and see if fuel runs out....

Re: 150 merc not starting

thanks guys,
got it going last night.
suspect i picked up some garbage in the fuel system as level in tank was very low but still picking up.
To start i filled the tank and just kept cranking and forcing fuel through system via the ball while giving it a shot of premix direct to the
carbs every now and then to run a few seconds.
After repeating the procedure 10 to 15 times
she fired up and would then fire everytime
also let run for 5 minutes and came back 5 more times after letting it cool down for a 1/2 hour or so and it will now start everytime.
My lesson learned? never let the tank get virtually empty and will flush it and clean as soon as I can
