How does one take off the throttle handle to get to the wires and switch for the tilt/trim motor. I have power to the solenoids(up & down)that I can jump with cables but get nothing when I press on the up/down switch. Any thoughts?

Just to check, have you tried it with the ignition key in the on position...
Mine bypasses the key switch, but yours may not...

Just checking!

I have never before needed to turn the ignition key to the on position. Most tilt/trim switches are directly wired to the battery so you don't have to have the engine running to lift up the motor. any other thoughts? All I am trying to do is to get the throttle arm off so I can troubleshoot the electrical problem.

mine has a plastic plate on the front of the arm. Ihad to use a small screwdriver to pop off the cover and there is a screw holding the arm on.
