I have bought an 150 Ocean pro 1998 that had this problem; at idle it increased to 3000 rpm without moving the throttle, and then stalled. But now, there are no ignition at all. The carbs had been checked before the no ignition-problem, according to the previous owner.

Could this be problems related to the optical sensor? I have an 175 Ocean Pro too, so I could try to change the sensor if that could be the problem?

Any suggestions?

I will not get the motor before next weekend, but I am curious about what it could be.

Too little information to comment. Is the engine connected to a good wiring harness? For the spark issue, you could try turning over the engine with the wiring harness disconnected and the spark plugs removed and grounded to the engine to observe spark. For the engine speeding up in neutral is it possible there is air leaking ion where the carbs are mounted to the intake manifolds?

Thanks again, I will check when I get the motor.
