Hi,
Just curious if my motor is using too much fuel. It runs sweet and I have it on a 5.60 metre, 18.5" fibreglass Haines Signature. (Aussie Boat). I am converting my kill tank to a spare fuel tank and have pulled out my old tank to run new lines. What would you consider reasonable fuel economy for this boat. I usually go out approx 75 klms to fish which is 45 miles and return on about 150 litres or 33 gallons.
I dont what to lean it down and do damage to the motor but would like to know if this is excessive or should I rework the carbys. It is running great and sounds quite strong and has less than 300 hours on it. 150hp is the maximum rating for the hull so it does the job well.. It is a 1998 model motor and I do a pre-mix at 50:01.
If I bought a new motor, what is a good motor these days with good economy? I have looked at Etec but are 4 strokes good on fuel. I have heard they are, but the maintenance costs overshadow the saving in fuel.
