Sorry to keep asking stupid questions, but I am getting conflicting answers.
I have a 2006 150 Opti. The owner's manual says to use premium tcw3 rated oil. Yet, I have read that people say to only use the Mercury opti oil only. Yesterday, I purchased Pennsoil Synthetic TCW3 oil at Walmart, and poured it into my oil tank. Did I screw up or what?

Also, when does the oil reserve (under the cowl) kick in? What do I have to do?

If the manual says that you can use TCW-3 rated oil, then the Pennzoil is a good oil.

The oil under the cowl is what is being mixed into the fuel. The remote tank feeds the engine mounted tank via pressure. You should always keep oil in the remote tank, so you are not running on the engine tank alone. When this occurs, you should get a warning horn sound, this lets you know that you have only a short reserve available.
