I am going to start with first time I had problems.
I bought this boat about 3 months ago and and it had a hesatation and would bogg down comming out of the hole, but once out of the hole it ran great. I ran Seafoam through it and it seemed to help a little. About 3 trips later it srarted to run rough at low speed. I put a fuel pump diaphram kit in it. Now heres where it gets worse. Went to the lake to try it out and now when I pumped the fuel blub, started, took off and ran until carb bowls went dry and bulb was soft. As long as you pump the blub it will run. Did I do something wrong on the fuel pump kit? I couldn't tell which way the pluse chamber went on looking at the service manual.
Went home changed all fuel lines under the cowling, put a new fuel bulb on, changed fuel line water seperator. Went to lake again, same problem. I notice now when I pump the blub it wants to stay flat and slowly inflates again. Please help.
Craig

Re: 150 xr2 fuel problems

hello
the slow inflate tells me you have a restriction up stream. it cant pull fuel so it slowly expands. check your antisiphon valve in the tank and be aware that a lot of built in tanks have a screen mesh filter in the draw tube. most have a draw tube that threads into the tank fitting from the tank side of the fitting. its easy to find with a vacum gauge.
if I were you I would check your compression and redo the pump as well as hunt for any fuel restrictions. a quick check is run it off a portable fuel tank.

I'd maybe look and see if the carb vent hole is plugged. and are you sure the primer bulb is facing the right way, look for the arrow, maybe try a proved gas tank and line, those antisyphon valves can cause a lot of problems.
good luck
