150 XR2 Water Press/Speedo

Recent purchase of a Champion with a 86 150 XR2 --
Not trying to sound like an idiot but being mechanically inclined, I still cannot locate exactly where the water press tube goes into? Replaced the pump impeller last week and did a double check on the pitot tube for air movement -- Works great but had to replace the line from the speedo to the connection point for the lower unit. Speedo proably works but ??? whre does the water press guge tube hook into? HELP

There's a pipe plug or something in the top of the block just aft the flywheel. The water pressure gauge hooks up there.

You may want to clarify if your are asking about the connection for the hose going to the water pressure gauge or the connection for the hose going to the speedometer gauge. They are different. Also, if you provide your motor's serial number, it may help with the answer.

It is for the water pressure guage and the engine is A114595. Seem to think it's located on top of the block? Not sure. Already located the Speedo area. Pittot tube was parcially plugged as is the speedo head itself. Need to order a new speedo head.

I don't have a manual for your particular motor's serial number to know for sure, but I think that your motor is pretty much the same as all other Merc V6's regarding the water pressure gauge hookup. Check the below link for some general information on connecting a water pressure gauge to a V6 150hp Merc. I hope it helps you out.
