So I picked up a motor that hasn't been started for 3 years.
Owner told me the stater solenoid was bad.

Took it home. Gave it gas and attached battery. Using a screwdriver to short the solenoid I was able to start the motor. Ran but kind of rough and fuel was coming out of the top of carb.

Replaced fuel lines and filter.
Rebuilt carb w Mercury rebuild kit.

Now motor will crank but not start.
Checked spark and there is spark. But it's not a huge blue spark like on a car.

Whats the order of the spark plugs?
Right now I have the wire closer to the plugs going to the top plug.

Any other suggestions?

To clean that carb properly you have to buy a good carb soak chemical and totaly submerg it for the recomended time after removing all of the plastic and rubber parts. The plug wires fire both plugs every time (lost spark system) so it doesn't make any difference. The short one goes to #1 (top plug). Be sure that the kill toggle switch is in the run position. There is also a no crank switch on the shift linkage if it is not in the right position. It is a nice reliable engine once you get it sorted out! good luck!
