Ok guys I have a 1993 Evinrude 15hp E15rletb. The carburetor that is on it is a late model carb, The top cover is part # 0436762 which now superseded to part # 0437985. Which is actually listed under a 1994 Evinrude. This cover has 6 mounting holes and 2 holes for the breather, total 8 holes. According to a few websites this part is NLA! Can I possibly use the cover shown in the picture below? But the carb gasket will still have the 8 holes. Thx.

Oh I’m sure it will fit, but how critical is that 6th hole? Just seeing if anyone has encountered this before. Thx

I could be mistaken, but I thought a another hole could be drilled and tapped on those earlier models like yours to help with the sealing of the top?

I’d drill a 7/32” hole, centered on area I marked. They are the same, but they don’t drill the 6th hole in it. You can see it’s marked for it.

Exactly just_james I’m thinking the same thing. Just not sure how the underside is cut out for the gasket? I actually found a top cover with the superseded # in GA. and Wisconsin. My motor is a 93, but it is a late 93. So it has a 94 carb on it..

Are you positive it’s a ‘94 carb? Gaskets are different between years. Different idle circuit. Left is 93, right is 94.

Yessir it is a 1994 carb. I do have the gasket on the right. And my top cover matches up to that. It has the 8 holes. That’s why I couldn’t use a 7 hole cover and drill out the #6 hole. The gasket wouldn’t match the cover. I think I might have fixed the problem. The problem that I am having is that the motor is hard to start and won’t idle, I think I had a cheap aftermarket gasket on top that was covering up some passage ways. Put a new gasket ion today. Will try to start again soon, Thx,, I’ll keep ya posted..

Cool. You and I have different part numbers, but I was able to find a couple myself. I bought both of them, lol
