Hello all - my 15hp gamefisher looks brand new. I just got it last summer and it has been great. On my last trip out of the season, I was cranking accross the lake at full throttle when all of the sudden the prop almost seemed to stop spinning, but the motor throttled way up and I stopped moving. It only gets to about half throttle now before it seems like some kind of clutch or something lets go and the power going to the prop lets go. I am a newbie and I just ordered a service manual but I have absolutely no idea where to even begin to look. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I could start? I know the prop is good and the teeth are all good so it's an internal problem. Any information would be GREATLY appreciated!

So far two of my friends have suggested either a "dog clutch" slipping? or a bad gasket to the lower unit? Do either of those sound right? Thanks!

Could be a worn clutch dog, but that would be making a bit of noise.

Most likely a spun prop hub - which is the rubber bushing that binds the inside and the outside of the prop together. This is a very common problem with older props, or if they have an underwater impact.

A dealer or prop shop can press a new hub into the prop.
