15HP ss tiller

I found a great deal (FREEBIE) it is a 91 15 SS tiller that runs good. Is there a way to get a lil more HP out of it?Just looking for some ideas. Maybe a carb or intake? Give me your thoughts

I make that out to be a 90 not 91. What does the SS stand for? You might get a little more just by keeping it in top running condition. If you want more HP than 15 out of it I would suggest your best option would be to sell it and but an 18 or 20. Seriously, there isn't any proven method that I've heard of. Best of luck. Rick.

Get yourself a portable tach and see if maybe a diff prop could improve your performance.

I have to agree with Bonair, on that motor a prop is your only way to really increase HP & to do that you need a prop that will allow the motor to turn at least 6000 RPM.

That motor is one of the best that OMC ever made in this series. The 9.9 was just a detuned 15hp (different carburetor). So mechanically it is as big as you can make it.
