16 foot swiftsure how fast will it boat go

I am looking at buying a used boat this year. First one in 15 years. It is a 1984 16' deep V switftsure with a 1988 75 HP oil injected mariner. My question how fast will this boat go with 2 adults on board. One family boat in average condition. I will be pulling with a Dodge grand caravan so I do not want too big of a boat.

I have a 16' V hull 80hp and it will go about 35mph with two adults on a flat lake, it will cruise almost 30mph fully loaded.
Some hulls are more efficent and can clip along faster with less resistance.

Probably not much more than 30mph true GPS speed. On the dream-o-meter it would probably show mid-30's.

I think closer to 35mph if you make sure you have the right prop,and motor is at the right depth. i have a 16" deep v with a 75 hp Suzuki. I have hit 38 with it on calm water with 2 people. and I can maintain 31 mph fully loaded. these speeds were with a gps

If you want your best top speed, head down-current or head out with the tide at wide open throttle. If the current is moving at 5mph and you are going 30 over the water, it'll register 35 on the GPS!

Of course if you turn around and do the same thing it'll register 25mph on the GPS.

But to show off, just do the first part.

Thnaks for the info, I live in Western Canada so we only have 4 months that you can boat so do want to spend a lot (wife does not like water).
I am also looking at 1978 Silverline 17' with a 165 merc.

My 18' center console with a 115 Johnson will do 40mph. Does that help any?
