16 gauge to 18 gauge wire?

I just wired my bow light. I bought 16 gauge wire to go from my electric distribution panel to the light. I looked at the light, however, and teh factory has 18 gauge wire coming from the light itselft. If I connect these two wires, will there be a problem in the long run? Right now, the light turns on, but I don't want to burn out a 30 dollar light.

Thanks guys.

No problems,

The longer the wire run, the thicker the wire. You did the right thing by using 16 from the panel.

A short piece of 18 at the light won't cause a problem.

All fused and CRIMPED ;) , yeah?

Aldo

Also, I ran a 10 gauge from the battery to the distribution panel. Was that right?

it depends on what will be drawing from the distribution panel, but 10 is what I have, a bit heavy but better safe than sorry. Gotta use the same on the return journey also (ground).

BTW, I know, most of the time, that everyone says "start a new post for a new subject", but in your case you can ask all your electrical questions in one thread - they are related.

Aldo

Heck I used 6 guage wire! But then everything is run from that panel at 3% drop not 10%.
