I have a 1986 wellcraft 195 classic. I've owned this boat for 5 yrs and last yr it didn't start after winter storage. I changed coil and starter and starter solenoid. Didn't have time or money to mess with it last year put it back in storage. Got it out last week and replaced distributor cap rotor points and condenser. Set points to .033 with #1 at tdc. Checked it 3 times its good. Checked power at coil its 12v,checked at distributor center 12v. Checked at spark plug no power at all no spark. Checked plug wires and only #4 was bad fixed it checked it again and checked good with multimeter. Put old rotor on nothing. Put old cap on and still nothing. Checked positive wires everywhere on the boat and negative wires and grounds all perfect. Still no spark at the plugs. Im not rich so paying over a $100 an hr to have someone look at it is out the question. Fixing it then selling due to the fact I have a family of 8 and 19.5 foot boat is way to small that part of why I didn't have time to fix last yr when I found the problem. This is a closed cooling system and still has a stator btw.

Set points to .033 with #1 at tdc You adjust the points to .018- .022 on the high side of the dist lobe, it has nothing to do with TDC

You need to file new points. Gap to 0.018", verify the dwell is between 28 degrees and 32 degrees, than adjust timing
