165 hp Merc lower unit.

I have a 6 cylinder 165 hp Merc and out drive, 1971. Can any of you out there tell me how much end float I should have in the prop shaft.

The Alpha style drives (You have a 165) all have some movement of the propshaft, it's normal. There is no spec on it though.

I had a 75 165 hp. It had about 3/8"-1/2" end play.<br /><br />Scott

Thanks for the replies. I only have about 1-1.5mm end float, so I gess thats fine. Anybody tell me the prop nut torque and oil capacity of my 165 leg please.
