I have an 1986 170 mercruiser trim that bleeds off . No leaks around cylinders so figure the pump is leaking off. Need info on how to repair or obtain manual for pump. Thanks for any help.

Chester, You should post this in the Mercruser forum.

As to your problem. The Trim Cylinders have pistons inside that have seals to the cylinder wall. if these go bad, oil can leak past the pistons, causing the motor to loose trim. Alternatively, it could also be the control valve. You might like to do a test to see which it is.

You could remove and cap the hydraulic lines on one trim cylinder, and see if theproblem persists. If not, you have bad seals in the cylinder. Then try the other cylinder. if it leaks down on both cylinders, either both have bad seals or the control valve is bad.
