I have a local supplier that carries 1808 fiberglass but not 1708. The saving is approximately $1.25 per yard on a 50 inch wide roll, not to mention "NO" frieght. My understanding is the 1708 is a little thiner than the 1808, plus I believe the 1708 is 45 degree and the 1808 is 90 degree. Anyone have any information on using the 1808 instead of 1708 for stringer, deck and transom rebuilding?
They also carry GP ortho marine grade poly resin which I assume will work just fine. Here again, a substantial savings over shipping it in....no frieght or hasmat charges. As always thanks for the information.

Yup, I'd use it in a Heart Beat and Save the Shipping Costs. Do they carry 1.5oz CSM as well? What's their pricing for a gallon of the GP Resin?

Re: 1708 vs 1808 cloth

Thanks for the reply Wood....Yes, they carry 1-1/2 oz CSM. They seem to carry most of the items the IBoaters use to rebuild the boats, with a few minor exceptions. I hesitate to publish prices because I don't want to PO any of the moderators etc., but let me just say the resin is about $16/gallon cheaper than US. I will be happy to PM you with a copy of their quote....My big advantage is I can drive to the warehouse about 30 minutes away.

correction on the resin....that 16 is for 5 gallons, not a gallon.

Dam, I need to get my act together; They also don't include the MEKP with the Resin, it is 5 for 8ounces.
