175 Johnson

I am looking a 19 foot grady with a 1986 175 Johnson motor. Is there anything I sould be aware of or look for? Is this a good motor? <br /><br />Thanks Bill

As long as everything checks out mechanically, this will be a great motor. If the electrical components have not been replaced, you can expect to (stator,powerpack, coils). They are simple motors therefore easy to work on.

You may consider to spend the money for a compression check ,either you check it or a dealer,while your at it check lower unit for water.
