Hi all,

I have decided to remove my oil injection. I had the boat in the shop for some other repairs, and asked the guy to go ahead and do this as well. Well, its a long story, but the short version is the guy was a serious procrastinator and just couldn't seem to have the boat done when he promised it, and 7 weeks later I took it home to finish myself.

As far as the oil injection goes, he said that he had everything ready to remove the pump, including all alarm issues and a timing change. He did not have the block off part that I needed, but mentioned that it looked like a dummy shaft with a plate, whereas everything I see when I look for this part is just a block off plate. He made it sound like this was rather important. Can anyone shed any light on this part and where I may find it?

Thanks!!!

It's a plastic part with about a 6 inch shaft and a flat plastic top, it replaces the oil pump shaft. The oil pump must be removed and the shaft below it must be removed then replace it with the part. The part holds the gear inside the motor in place. You should be able to buy it any where you buy marine parts. Very cheap part. Very easy fix. Just make sure you pre-mix your gas after you remove the oil injection. Good luck and let us know.
CU

-------------------
RUNNING THE MOTOR WHILE LISTENING TO THE HORN WILL MAKE YOU MORN!!

Try RacerRick web site for the oil pump plug if you can't find it elsewhere ... it's needed to keep the driven shaft end bushing in place.

The timing change had me stumped as well. The mechanic was recommended by a few people, and he seemed to be a pretty sharp guy, so I just let him handle it all, as I was getting tired of hauling the boat 3 hours each way to the lake. I had to cut the trip short for a few weeks in a row due to water pumps and trim solenoids, and was just fed up so I left it with the guy. BIG MISTAKE!!!

Anyhow, I got the block off plug today, and did that. I removed the oil tank and hoses as well. Now I have another question. What should I do with the line that supplies air pressure to the big oil resivoir on the boat. Do I plug it off, or let it vent? And what do I plug it with? Thanks!!
rich

Plug any "oil" line, or oil intake that you have going to the engine...

The tank, on the other hand is junk. The line going to it can be left alone...but you might want to tape it to the harness and seal any critters from getting in there...Plugging it probably won't hurt anything either, though...
