My original prop from a used boat was 11 3/4 x 19. Always thought it was under propped. I was trying to decide between a 12 3/4 x 21 and a 13 x 19. After reading posts here and researching online I decided to try the 13 x 19 today. I expected the rpms to go down and maybe see a performance boost because of having more prop in the water. I think the boat actually ran a little worse. I was running at 4200 doing between 25 and 30mph depending on conditions. The new prop I was running 4500 and barely breaking 20mph. I decided to take it back and get the 12 3/4 x 21. I'm real glad I did. It was night and day. I don't feel like I lost any hole shot and at 4200 I was doing 35mph. I was concerned about lugging my motor changing the prop so much. I didn't quite reach WOT. I stopped at 5200 but I only had a little more throttle. I was also by myself and I usually fish with 2 to 3 people on the boat so with the additional weight I believe I'm probably right on.

Thanks for your advice and help,
Tom

Tom,
In order for anyone to help you need to provide some required information. What year, make, and horsepower is your motor?
