19?? sears .............need some info

Have a Sears outboard motor i dont know anything about it , it says on the nameplate <br />model 574-59660<br />serial no. 67600410-1714<br />simpsons-sears ltd<br />made in canada <br /> i need some info the thing dont have any fire , checked the mag between the plug wire prong and the ground to the base i have got 7500 ohms . anyone get me pointed in the right direction on this thing thanks alot ML

Your motor was built by McCulloch.<br /> I dont find a 5966 just 5956 67 14 hp.<br /> The mags on all these older motors are pretty simple Be sure all connections are clean and tight.Point gap .020<br />be sure cantacts are clean If there is a kill switch be sure it is open when trying for spark.<br /> If coils appear corroded or cracked replace them.<br /> You could try the Scott guy for help.<br /> web.a-znet.com/~scottguy or ****s home page at: <br /> www.****smarine.net.

ok , thanks for the info , at least i know a litle bit more than i did yesterday , ill get to checking everything out on the motor mabye i am looking too hard . .....done that before !!! ..lol thanks again ML
