was wondering if someone would be able to help me on this, I have a Jonny ks-15 9.8 HP (1941?) that needs a ring (1) it was weather seized and I got the pistons out, was able to unstick the rings, but the middle ring on 1 piston got caught on my cotton glove & I snapped it, I called a couple of the places on the salvage list Sea Way & one other, they do not have one. The other thought was to put it back together with just the 2 unstuck rings on that one cylinder, Do you experts think it would run? I don't intend to use this engine. but it would be neat to hear it run once in a while, thanks.

Try Sea-Way Marine in Seattle, or Engine Blade and Prop. Sea-Way done me really well on supplying me parts for an old Johnson the same year as yours. And yes, your motor comes up as a 1941 - 42

Thanks' Just e-mailed engine blade & prop. Sea way has hooked me up Big time on many of my older kickers but no luck on the ring, I never thought about having a ring made, but I think there might be a fellow in town who could do it. Again thanks. cheers

Wow, no luck at Sea-Way huh? Sorry to hear that. HighTrims advice would definately be a good option too. try the AOMCI website.

Another good option, would be to search out other motor models, with the same size bore and retro-fit rings from it. If the bore and ring width is the same as something more modern, then that will be something to consider. A KS-15 shows it to have a 2 1/8" bore.

1946 zephyr' Thanks that bore size helps, I was thinking that might be an option as well, Just got a e-mail back from engine blade & prop. They don't have one at this time, I am going to try and post an add on AMOCI this will be new for me as I have never done a post on their site, I am also talking to some of the old timers locally, heck that's how I ended up with it.
