Just bought a nice, clean 49 QD 10. Was wondering 2 things, do I have to use a pressurized gas tank? The other thing is can you still get parts like carb kit and water pump etc. Any help would be great. Thanx in advance for you help.:joyous:

It originally came with a Tall Boy pressure tank. However, you do not NEED to use it. It can be converted to run on a fuel pump if so desired.

Sure you can still get parts. Crazy eh.

seems like the only replacement part are the coils. points arent the same ( newer type ) and the carb kit looks like you cant get some gaskets and a seat. Looked at some fuel pump upgrades ant starting in 1960 you could get the pump but found 1 on ebay used for a 5.5 hp that looks similar. Cant find a new one. they all look new style and small. Looked on 4 different sites. Any ideas? Its a nice motor that does fire or at least try to...

Don't worry about what it says, listen to Frank! He wont steer you wrong.

All that matters is that it bolts up, and the cowl will close.

When working on the antiques, you have to use ingenuity sometimes, and not just go on what you read on the internet. Listen to experience instead. The fellow in the post above you can provide plenty of that.

jmo.....but i think the op is over complicating the conversion to pump? why not just use a b&s or mikuni and drill and tap the bypass cover?
