I have a 1990 195 GLS that I've owned for 4 years. The floor has always been soft, especially after rain. So, this week I decided to start replacing the floor.
I knew there was wood rot in front of the consoles when I put trolling batteries up there. Ive started pulling up the floor and found the previous owner had put down 1/4" plywood with carpet on top of a marine vinyl floor. It does not look like the vinyl floor was original, but it was in ok shape. The wood under consoles maybe original and is in really bad shape, just came up in flakes as I pulled some of it up. Not done with that.
I plan on using grey nautolex vinyl, nautolex 88 adhesive, west systems epoxy on 3/4 ACX plywood, and carpet for trim. Already dropped a few hundred on epoxy, vinyl, and adhesive. Aluminum frame and foam look good. Planning on selling within a year or so, but I would like a solid floor to enjoy in that time. Also, I haven't had a working gas gauge and hope to fix that. There was no access to the tank to troubleshoot the sending unit with the previous floor.
I'm looking for hints and tips to get this moving along. Acetone did not work on the glue they used previously on the carpet. I suspect I'll have to sand it off with a flapper wheel. Attached are a couple photos to start. I'll send more photos.
