1952 Bayliner Cuddy Thoughts

Has anyone had any experience or thoughts on the Bayliner 1952, 19' Classic Cuddy boat, with a 135 I/O Mercruiser?<br /><br />Am looking at taking it into SF Bay and Delta areas, as well as local lakes etc...<br /><br />How hot do the Cuddy cabins while not running.<br /><br />Am thinking of having the cuddy for storage and a place to let the kids get cover, and for additional seaworthiness in rougher waters.<br /><br />Am limited by what I can tow as well, so in my research with price a consideration, towing and flexibility for use this boat seems to do the trick.<br /><br />Would appreciate any and all thoughts from the group!!<br /><br />Thanks<br /><br />bc

Howdy, Bill.<br /><br />Unless you are very boat wise and capable of doing your own maintenance, I recommend that you avoid Bayliners. <br /><br />They are just too cheaply made and flimsy where a boat should be sturdy to suit me. The problem, of course, is that they are so danged pretty!<br /><br />If Yugos had been as sexy looking as Bayliners they would have taken over the market.<br /><br />Good luck.

I will avoid the Bayliner issue though I had a 27 1/2 flybridge (triple axle trailer that scared the s$%t out of me goin down the road).<br /><br />On the cabin - Cabins tend to be the dumping ground for everything which tends to make them useless. They are great though if you intend to do much weekend overnight camping. I have had several (17'+)and enjoyed that capability. I did not like the exhaust fumes getting sucked up in the cockpit.<br /><br />I now have a 23' center console which does everything I want a boat to do. I have a canvas "cabin" in the front should I need it. Can get it out of the way when I don't.
