i have a 55 5hp outboard that i bought this year. the guy i bought it from never tried to start it but was told it ran. i got it running recently but it runs rough and its missing. i pulled the plugs and checked them, the one looks good but the other is wet, i checked the spark on both cylinders and both have a good clean spark, i also cleaned and gapped the pionts(.020mm) but it still runs rough. the missing cylinder kicks in every now and then but not often. I NEED SOME ADVICE!!!! i wanna go fishing this weekend but i need the motor. If anyone has any advice PLEASE advize!

Thanx

Re: 1955 5hp viking outboard

Model number would help.I believe it was built by Gale of Canada.
Take a look at the coils they are most likely molded plastic. If original they will be cracked and discolored.(normal)Replacements are available using the Evinrude Johnson Coils of the same years. We do need the Model numbers to confirm the builder and year.Numbers usually appear on the mounting bracket
If you can't get the number;a picture should help.
You also need to post this in the other outboard section. you'll get better results.
