Model 15014 I removed the botom bolt on the shift rod connecter, removed the gear housing screws, lower unit dropped about 3/4 of an inch. At this point I am unable to remove the lower unit, am I missing something. Cannot seem to seperate the upper and lower units, water tube is sliding out of grommet about a 1/4 in. I hear a clunk of the drive shaft in the lower unit it is not coming out of the powerhead. Any advice?

Driveshaft could be rusted to the powerhead. Turn the motor upside down and run some penetrating oil down the shaft. Let it soak and see if it will free up. I'd bet the 0-ring at the top of the driveshaft is missing.

Thanks for the info, I suspected a stuck drive shaft. I will let it soak and report results in a couple of days.

I have had no success using the penetrating oil, any other advice on freeing the drive shaft, what is my next step.

Are you sure the screw on the shift linkage is completely removed and not just loosened? Sounds to me like a classic linkage/no screw out issue. Rick

I removed the lower screw on the shift rod connector, the lower shift rod is completly dissengaged from the shift rod connector. The upper gear housing seperates form the exhaust housing about 3/4 of an inch. Cannot get the drive shaft to budge.

Only one thing it could be then, a stuck drive shaft. PB Blaster soak might help. Wedges between the two pieces and tap, tap, tap. Rick

Do you know a body man who has a slide hammer with a hook on the end? Luckily, parts are not hard to find.

Gotta be the driveshaft. Tap it gently after getting lube oil in there.

And I have the parts manual if you want it, if yes, send me a PM with your request and your email.
