Parts are very easy to find. You can buy a parts catalog, owners manual, and service manual listed on this site. I just bought a rebuild kit online from Master Tech for $197.00. It had the entire water pump, coils, condensors, plugs, wires, points and head gasket. You can get the water pump there for $60.00. You should first remove your engine, take the shifter loose from the lower unit, remove the lower unit. Then remove the pump housing to see if it is still good. That will help you decide if you need the Impellar, the impellar and plate or the entire kit. The impellar alone is about $12. Be sure to notice, if you have a casted housing on the pump you will need the old style impellar, if plastic then the new style.

You have to remove the powerhead to disconnect the shifter on that model. It sounds like a big deal but you can do it in about 25 minutes with a couple of end wrenches and a good flathead screwdriver. An experienced person could probably change the impeller in 45 minutes with no problem. One evening for you, probably.
New impeller is cheap, as stated. Good motors. Got a good pressure tank?:)

Is it pumping water out the rear at all? After running the head should be very warm to the touch but not smoking hot. You should be able to splash water on it and it should not sizzle off...
