SO after a year, I'm finally reassembling my 1955 RDE17 25 hp. I can't find anything in the service manual regarding a specific torque for mounting the powerhead to the lower unit. Is there one, or just sung things nice and tight?

I went around 15ftlbs for the 2 hex head bolts and about 8ftlbs on the slotted screws and things were feeling pretty tight. I'm afraid to go further for fear of stripping something.

Thanks for any advice.

Hmmm... Good question. I have the same engine but have never removed the powerhead. On other engines I have done, I have not used a torque wrench, just snugged em up. But they'd all be 18hp and under.
