I fear that I may have to pull the power head to replace a water pump impeller on my 1956 Evinrude 10hp.
I also think I heard some say they have cut shaft and then clamped it back together? Sounds kinda hokey, but before I tear into this thing I need to know, so I can have all the parts here during teardown. I hope Im not going to get intimate with this thing, but I am commited...:D I love Evinrudes, so far..

No way, drop the lower leg, the split shifter rod is clamped.
Access the clamp under a plate on the side of the leg.
30 minute job.

Oh yeah, that baby came apart easy, didnt break anything, but will insure holes are reemed open and painted and greased before puttin housing back together. That way no electrolysis next time.. Never was run in salt either, which helped..
Should get impeller in a few days and continue cpr on this motor..
