Need to find new gearcase seal kit for this engine - is tnere someplace out there that carries this and other parts I may need??

There is no seal kit for that motor, because it has a different prop shaft seal than newer models. So you can buy an 18hp seal kit plus the correct prop shaft seal, or you can just buy all the parts individually. iboats sells parts.

Or, there is an individual that makes up seal kits from parts. He may see this and contact you.

EDIT: That elusive prop shaft seal that fits your '55 is part number 303495

Thanks, is that part number the same for the 1956 model? Do you know where I can find a parts list for the 1956 15hp model,.? Thanks!

Yes, I believe the change took place in 1958. I have the parts list on my hard drive. Can't say offhand where it might be on line.

Some newbies assume that seal replacement is routine maintenance (not necessarily so). You may have worked on many of them, however, and have a reason to believe there is a bad seal. Did the l.u. fail a pressure test? Maybe noticed some water in the gear case when draining?
