First, thanks to all who have helped me along with this project. It has been a great time.
High Trim, F_R, Racerone, OldBoat, Milliesdad, Racerone and others. Thanks one and all.

How much power should this engine produce?
Got it on the water Memorial Day Saturday.
Here's the good - Motor starts, runs, shifts - but here's the thing - our top speed was 17 mph. Boat would BARELY stay on plane. With 2 people on board and a hull weight of 300#. Hull is a 1957 Whitehouse, 15', which has a "conventional round bilge" hull shape As per this link:
(see page 4) http://files.dnr.state.mn.us/education_safety/safety/boatwater/backyardboatbuilders.pdf

The not so good: I did not have the packing bolts tight enough and adjusting screws on the high and low jets were vibrating thenselves out of adjustment. Not a big thing, I'll fix it. Fuel line that I used caused a failure. Sun heated up the tubing and it lost integrity of its seal. Motor was unable to get fuel. I can fix that too.

I'm looking for comments regarding power here today.

jmo, but you should be able to get to 25mph easily , it isnt gunna jump up on plane and scream tho. your packing nut issue is probably the big issue, i like to use 3 packing washers on each needle and that will usually hold them snug, but from my experience, they usually need to retightened once, after the first run. what the heck were you using for fuel line that the sun caused it to fail???

Sorry for the long delay.
I was using a clear vinyl fuel line with no hose clamp.
A failure could have been easily predicted. Oh well. Live and learn
