WHAT IS THE RIGHT FUEL MIX FOR THE MOTOR? WHAT TYPE OF OIL IS BEST?
i was told to use motor oil instead of two cycle engine oil, is that true? and if so how much oil per gal.? motor is tested stars and runs like a charm and i don't want to blow it...

Re: 1956? JOHNSON 30 HP HELP!!!help!!!

If the motor is definitely a 30hp and from the 1950s, then it is a 1956, as that was a one-year model.
Oil mix should be 24:1 (1 qt. oil to 6 gal. gas) using TCW-3 rated outboard oil. As for brand of oil, there are as many opinions as there are brands to choose from. As long as it is TCW-3 rated you should be good to go. Whatever you do, do NOT use regular motor oil.
One good thing to do on these older motors is to do a decarbon using a product like Seafoam DeepKreep. 50 years worth of carbon build-up can sap power and make it run less efficiently...
