1956 Majestic M2N Cooling tube

As I stated in another post, I have two 1956 Majestic (Champion) M2Ns. One is in a box in pieces, the other was complete less the lower gear housing. My question is, between the two of them I cannot find evidence of where the impeller tube terminates on the top end. From the impeller area where does it go?

Dang if I know. It looks like it is held at the top by a compression nut & sleeve 1J86 (?) Water tube is 1J85

Judging from the gasket which has no penetration past the top of j286, it must stop there. The book I just got yesterday is a different model so your pics have been helpful, thanks. I hope to have the motor rebuilt by the end of next week. I have been working on a Frankenstein outboard from a tecumseh snowblower engine. So I am doing multiple things at one time.
