Stupid question but have to ask. I went to the library today and got a repair manual today that covers several different engines. I decided before anything that I should check compression and I got 60 psi in both cylinders didn't try wet compression check just dry does this sound good or bad as far as compression? ( I was expecting a lot higher) and thought that the book would tell me exactly what psi to expect but it doesn't. being two stroke do you have to check wet? About what should it be? Thanks in advance James

Thats pretty low but its good that it is even.
100 lbs is considered minimum. But when running and lubed it may come up.
You could also try to decarb I have never done it
follow the directions if rings are stuck it
may loosen up.
It will probably run even though it is low.
A strong fuel system and good spark will help a lot.

Hi, James.

That does sound low, but if it's both cylinders it could simply be a result of recoil start.

Did you spin her for a full 5 revs? Did you have both plugs out?

If it is in fact that low you might have some carbon buildup or worn rings, but with both cylinders giving the same psi I suspect that it was simply a technique issue

It would have been very helpful if you had made this post a reply to your previous post because there is information there that matters, like the history and why you are even interested in the compression.
