Please help! I'm running out of beer! Watch the video, enjoy a little Ting Tings in the background before I start her up.
1957 Evinrude 35 Video
And the commentary: I start it with the choke half-on and throttle in "start". put it in gear, turn choke off and it dies. Restart, gear, choke off, hold throttle up, play with carb knobs and it revs up, holding throttle at "start". Suddenly it starts its usual shimmying, bolts unscrew themselves, and it dies. I can only ever keep it running for a couple minutes.
So far:
I noticed after testing the compression with this setup that there was some black gunk left on the bottom of the attachment that screws into the cylinder, mostly just from the top one.
Here are a set of plugs I ran in the engine for maybe 5 or 10 minutes before.
Top:
Bottom:
This engine had been sitting for who knows how many years. It feels so good to have her running THIS well, but I can't take her out like this! So close! No cigar! I'm looking for that cigar, fellas! Any ideas?

So far:
- Cleaned carb and installed new carb kit.
- Tore apart LU and replaced bearings, water pump, seal kit.
- Popped flywheel, new ignition kit, new plugs Champion J8C (couldn't find 4 or 6c at store).
- Compression is 102 both cylinders via $7.99 gauge from Harbor Freight (score!) also tested spark with their lightbulb tester, which flashes when I crank on both cylinders (see below).
