I recently purchased an old outboard to tinker with and cannot find any info on what the K in the model number stands for. I wanna think I remember it designating that it was a half year change but do not remember fully. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA !! Hope y’all are having a great week. most likely just a tweak Manual only lists a FD and FDE models K being a suffix

Do not worry about the " K " on that motor.-----Install a new water pumpo impeller.----Remove inspection plate on top of flywheel.----Post pictures of the 2 ignition coils.

You already answered your own question. The letter suffix identifies any mid-year engineering changes ---IF-- any changes were made. Otherwise, it means nothing.
