I recently obtained and am learning all about my 1957 Johnson Javelin 35 hp outboard. My particular problem is that I can't seem to latch or lock it into either the raised or lowered position.
The latch for holding it down is looking right at you, between the transom brackets. There is no lock for holding it up in tilted position. People in "The Day" stuck a piece of 2 x 4 in it.
