These older motor can be an economical way to go boating.-----But they require that you learn / want to learn how to repair them.----Most shops do not work on them.------So these motors are worthless to most folks today.----And folks who know how to repair them often get them for free.

This thread disappointed me as I also have a 57 RTE-19 that came off my Crosby my Grandpa gave me. No boat anymore, just the motor and fuel tank. :(

I sold 2 1957 Seahorses. for $400 each , but that was only after I got a hold of "Holiday Bronze" paint and the proper rubber cowling strip size.
The truth is is that, although they are beautiful, they also are very thirsty. They leave so much unburned fuel in the water. I never went on the water with less than 2 nice gleaming 5 gallon tanks pressure tanks. I even had a generator on one them. It produced power only above 1800 rpm. So I still had to lug the battery on and off the boat. That stuff gets old. I was glad to get rid of them for the money they sold for.
Now I have a 2024 Suzuki 9.9 that sips fuel and unlike the seahorses always starts and is very quiet.
What color is the motor cowling?
It should be either sort of white and gold (the luxury version) or Holiday bronze (sort of red and white)
