Hi all. .. I have recently come into a 1957 Sterling 18Ft inline 6. I am not able to find a pic on the net so not quite sure what it is supposed to look like. It appears to been painted over the old hull which is starting to peel badly and you see glossy wood beneath. I assume this is not the norm also it has been out of the water at least 10 years if not more. Can anyone tell me what it take to get it water ready and if the hull paint? Cracking is a big issue? Can upload pics if needed . Thank you, LF1

Hello,..... sorry about that. I have been busy out on the boat. (Lol). Yesterday I came back from thee days over on Long Island. :)
And the week before last we had our first grandchild, so that took priority.

can you post any pictures of your boat and the areas you are questioning? My first thought is maybe it was originally varnished and someone painted over the varnish. Your description is pretty typical sounding for that.
